I'm a little late on this.. but that's not really true... the axle nut does nothing to hold the hub together. I never liked the way the hubs are held together.. Just pressed, that's it. There is nothing holding the axle inside the tube, so if that hub broke off, that axle shaft would just slide right out with it.
