If you go with a higher voltage coil, make sure you replace the distributor rotor, cap, spark plug cables, and spark plug gapping to match what you put in... With 50K Volts, you will probably fry your stock cables. I have in my rig a 36K Volt coil, and I am using LiveWire cables with the spark plugs gapped at .45 (I could probably go a little wider, though; I am thinking about going to .55 now), but I did use 8mm cables with .35 gaping and it worked as well. I also replaced my rotor and cap with Performance Distributors rotors and caps...
