I am looking at an 86 CJ7 with a locked up engine. It is a 258 with a 5spd, dana 300 t-case and it has the DANA 44 REAR. (oh yeah). The thing that gets me is there is a plaque on the left side of the dash that signifies it as a collectors edition and the "last of an era". Is this for real or is it just added on junk? There is another party interested in the CJ so I don't want to lose a deal on a rare Jeep. The VIN is 1JCCF87EXGT100013. Can anyone help with this info??

Thanks in advance,
Greg

Don't know if the plaque is for real or not, but 86 was that last CJ, so it makes sense.

Driv-wfo,

I bought mine with the 304 in a basket and got a good deal. $1900.00

There is a website where you can enter the VIN and pull the history of any vehicle. Flood, stolen, totaled or whatever.

Kelly blue book online & NADA online do not show a special edition CJ7 for 86'. So I wouldn't pay extra for it.

You are in a good position if you can get it for a good price, drop a late model 4.0L I-6 out of a cherokee into it.

You'll need the engine computer I'm sure if the bellhousing doesn't line up,
Advanced Adapters will have an adapter and motor mounts to make this swap a snap.

Hope this helps.
