Ok I might have gotn' over my head on this one but I just purchased my 2000 sahara back from my insurance company after being a flood/salvage write off for SUPER cheap. I want to biuld it back up for an off road trail stomper. The interior is all pulled out and I replaced most of the electronics under the hood with new stuff(batt., wires, plugs, dist, etc..)

Problem #1 is it still won't start.....the local dealership suggested I replace the ECU due to the water damage.
Leads to problem #2. the cost of a new fact. ECU!!!!
This lead me to find one in a bone yard for a 5spd 2001 "X" modle for 1/3 the price( but non refundable).
My issue is my Sahara had the Sentry Key system from the factory, and I think thats in the fact. ECU( which is dead). The Wrangler X has no Sentry in it. Can I swap ecu's and start the JEEP? I could care less if the JEEP has anti theft now, but I'll be damned if I spend another week trying to start this jeep to find some sort of incompatablity issue plus throwing good money for bad on this boneyard ECU.
Any thoughts????
