clutch options for tj

I have a 97 tj on 35's with 51,000 miles, the clutch is deffinantly struggling, especially off the line. I have looked into centerforce and ATS clutchkits and was wondering if anyone else has input. I am looking for a clutch that really grabs yet is still good for road driving.

Re: clutch options for tj

I wouldn't waste the money on a performance clutch for a stock jeep engine, they don't make enough power to require the extra holding force. I recommend a good OEM clutch like the LUK brand, check out www.carolinaclutch.com or www.dialaclutch.com .

Re: clutch options for tj

Even though a stock engine doesn't produce a lot of power to require a performance clutch, trying to turn large tires is just as hard on it. Especially when off road climbing rocks ect. I replaced my clutch a little while back and did a lot of research into it before buying. After a lot of calling around and research on the net, I had a lot of people recommend the Luk Gold Series clutch which is what I ended up buying. It's a high performance clutch that's a little more expensive than oem but not enough to break the bank. Haven't had any problems at all with it on and off road. The good thing is that you don't get the real heavy pedal pressure required of some heavy duty clutches, it feels stock.
