85 Grand Wagoneer will not start

Was going down the road, running good and all of a sudden started back firing through carb. and barely running. Coasted to a stop and it died. Would not start back up. The oil cap blowed off while backfiring. Any ideas:? 360 engine. 2 bbl. I am getting fire to every cylinder. There is gas in tank but I am thinking now some type of fuel problem. Thanks for any help.

Re: 85 Grand Wagoneer will not start

I've run 4 different 360s in the past, all of them jumped the timing at one point or another. The chain just gets old and loose. very easy fix if you can handle basic tools. Haynes manual has a great step by step
