Re: Coil Volts

That depends on the coil. You can get a high end one making around 50,000 volts. Stock coils produce around 20,000.

Summit SUM-G5220 - Summit Street Coils - summitracing.com
This one is supposed to put out 60,000,
Seems like alot of bang for the buck. compared to brand name coils,

I'm just looking for something with more spark,

The J10 Has a chevelle 350 2bl carb and the motor is not burning all the fuel.

Re: Coil Volts

If you go with a higher voltage coil, make sure you replace the distributor rotor, cap, spark plug cables, and spark plug gapping to match what you put in... With 50K Volts, you will probably fry your stock cables. I have in my rig a 36K Volt coil, and I am using LiveWire cables with the spark plugs gapped at .45 (I could probably go a little wider, though; I am thinking about going to .55 now), but I did use 8mm cables with .35 gaping and it worked as well. I also replaced my rotor and cap with Performance Distributors rotors and caps...

Re: Coil Volts

In my personal experiences, replacing the plugs with a higher grade, and better wires have given me better results than just doing the coil. You can find a nice full ignition kit with rotor, wires and plugs for cheap money.
