Rear Bumper woes

I need help..... well more that this site can offer, but maybe you can help on one subject. I'm looking for a rear bumper for my 2005 TJ, I DONT want a 2" reciver on it because I already have one on my jeep... I would like a spare tire carrier on the bumper as opposed to on my tail gate cappable of holding a 35"-37" spare..... any ideas?

Re: Rear Bumper woes

Most bumper/carriers will only hold up to 35" tall tire.

I have the garvin wilderness bumper, had it now for about 5 years and it is f-n durable. thing is pretty beat from draging it over rocks and it still looks decent, the coating never flaked or rusted through. I carry a 36" tire on it (says it'll do up till 35, what ever) My only gripe is the grease fitting for the hing gets broken off when ever in the vicinity of a rock. would have been better to put it else where, but nothing a e-z out doesn't fix.

Re: Rear Bumper woes

Hey jps, they make grease zerks that are low profile and dish shaped. I save mine when i replace the "Super Strength" u-joints on my FS Blazer 4x4. I haven't found anyplace that sells them individually.

Re: Rear Bumper woes

I'm impressed with the tube bent bumper from Garvin but it's the "I'm not looking for a 2" receiver" that has got the search going nowhere.

Re: Rear Bumper woes

Here's a link to my buddy's eBay store. He's been building great bumpers for a couple years. I can honestly say that I've seen him hand build them and then seen them get torture tested. They hold up and he'll do whatever you want on it. He doesn't have any up for sale right now because he gets so many orders by word of mouth he doesn't need to. His prices are better than most peoples for a far better product. Hit him up here: eBay My World - gpfab

If you want to give him a call and talk to him in person PM me and I'll shoot you his number.

Here is one he did. I know you said you didn't want a hitch in it, but this is just a picture, he'll do w/e. This one is tricked out with a jack mount, jerry can mount, and if you look you can see the guards protecting the tub coming off the corner. His spindles are like no one elses on the market, he uses spindles twice the size of normal vendors. He does this by taking a spindle with a huge lower bearing surface diameters, and machining down the part that slips into the body. Both sides of the spindle get welded in and the diameter of the lower bearing surface is almost a full 2" in diameter. His shackle tabs also get welded through both sides.

And his buggy for good measure.
