I just learned that there is an air flow restrictor where the hose meets the box top. You can pull that out and get a little more air. Some say you get alot more others say that they haven't noticed a difference. Just running this up the flag pole.[addsig]

i have done this to my jeep about a month ago and i have also done it to my friends jeep too. it is suppose to increase your gas mileage and gain more horsepower. i have noticed a little increase in horsepower, but i havent check the gas mileage yet. max speed before i took it out was about 75mph and after it was 85mph [img]modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]

here's the website from where i found it http://www.concentric.net/%7Ejman/jeepmods.html

Yup, did this to mine before i even had it 5 minutes so i didn't notice any difference really. But I have heard it does help. Also, another thing to do would be to go to your local autozone and buy a cone filter, a pvc elbow and mount that under the hood. Gets a lot more air, just make sure you don't emerse is in water. My friend did this and said it made a difference. Just another idea to send around.. [addsig]

There's also a restrictor at the bottom front (inlet) of the air box that can be removed.

Back when I bought my YJ, in '95, I asked the salesman 'why does the Cherokee develope 130hp and the Wrangler only 123hp, when they both use the same 2.5L motor?'

His answer was they put restrictors in the airbox/airtube. The engineers did this for "Safety" reasons. I think they started putting the restrictors in when they changed to MPI in '91 for the 2.5L.[addsig]

Shortly after I bought my Jeep (5 months ago) I read somewhere about the reducer in the hose between the air box and the TB. I removed this and did not notice much change. Last night while work was dead I took apart the airbox and removed the reducer on the air inlet. Result.......Big difference.....seems to have a little more get up and go[addsig]

I just removed the entire box! I put in a cone K&N filter. I just need to secure things a little better. That made a huge difference! Isn't it funny, just like people, the better you breathe the better it works![addsig]
