hard top windows falling out!!!

I have had my jeep for about 2 months now, when I bought it there was a little piece of moulding missing (about 3 inches) on the bottom of the side windows on the hard top. I didn't think much of it but now the rest is slowly pulling away and there is some play in the windows now! I was wondering if this has happend to anyone else and what you did to remedy it. Unless I hear a better idea I will just have to pump some kind of caulking or sealant in there to keep the moulding from coming off... maybe this jersey jeep just isn't used to the extreme cold![addsig]

I ordered a Steel-Horse hard top and went it arrived both rear windows had fallen out. An Auto Glass shop advised me to use Essex-Dow U-418HV, High Viscosity, Quick Cure, Primerless to Auto Glass Urethane Adhesive to seal the gasket to the top after I reinstalled the windows. I bought a tube from them for around $10. Smallest size was a clauking tube and was advise once opened will last about a week. [addsig]

My 93 YJ hardtop had the same problem. The 3 inch gap is supposed to be there....there is actually a small piece of removeable moulding that is supposed to fill that gap. I went to an auto glass shop because the moulding around my windows kept coming out. I wanted to find the easiest way to keep it in. They told me that once the moulding has been removed it will keep coming out unless it is put in right after the windows have been freshly installed with the window sealant still wet. The window sealant is what keeps the moulding from coming out. I think your best bet would be to remove the windows and all the old sealant then reinstall them with fresh sealant and put the moulding in right away. If it's something you don't think you can do yourself, I don't think it's too expensive to have an auto glass shop do it for you. Remember if you do it yourself, the auto glass shop told me that the jeep should sit for at least 12 hours for the the windows to seal properly. Any bumbs or vibrations might cause them to not seal properly and leak water.[addsig]

hey, just a little addition to what craig said.... not only does the vehicle have to sit for a while before you can drive it, be VERY careful when you close the door. When i worked at a car lot last summer they said that if a windshield had been replaced and hadnt cured that even slamming the door could pop the window out (because the sudden change in air pressure i guess) I would assume that the same would apply for a hardtop window, or basically any window that is sealed in.[addsig]
