One thing to watch with the vortec engine is a little known fact that at about 100 to 110 thousand miles a fuel sending sensor below the intake manafold goes. I have a Jimmy with that motor and the dang thing decided to take a crap on a major highway around here. The remove and replace of the sensor isn't bad, but the part is ONLY available at the dealer, and will run you about 500 to 600 bucks. Symptoms of the problem are hesitation and slugish starts. Almost like it needs just a tune up.

It sounds like a good deal, BUT if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Ask the guy why he is selling it that cheap. To me that sounds too cheap for what all is in that Jeep. I would take it for a good long ride and also- show up unexpectly too- that way the seller can't warm it up for you first, hiding anything that shows on a cold-start up. Make sure the 4WD operates smoothly and engages easily too-

But if all looks good then go for it-

Also- take along a magnet and put it to the body around the wheel wells and corners and such- that way you can tell if the Jeep is solid under the paint-[addsig]

i looked at one simmeral it this but when i looked under it i just walked away. I would look at the frount and rear pumpkin checking for leaks . If it is chances are good that who ever lifted it didn't know what he was doing . Ask your self what kind of diving did this thing go though. And if it suck a deal why isn't it sold allready. It may seem like a good deal now , but the problems he is having with it you will pay for . The best thing is to find a stock jeep and do everthing your self that way you know it is done wright and the way you want it done .But if every thing checks out ok ya go for it .
