Well... I got a call from our good friend BigBlackJeep Thursday night, saying that he would be in on friday... he got certification to drive the humvees but was not allowed to take them offroad. After driving them, he just HAD to do some offroading, he got clearance to go off base for the weekend, so he came home... we fired up his big black monster and we started to celebrate his temporary return, plus I had to check and see if my first attempt at installing wheel joints was offroad worthy. Well... I'll tell ya, no problems with my vehicle. We took a few action shots with a disposable, I haven't yet gotten them developed.. but when we got back to civilization, we took some digital pics... here is my aftermath
I'll get the action shots developed soon... in those you will see BBJ and myself playin around.... a 2wd ranger came along with us... we had to tow him into the woods just so he could make it... but surprisingly... he did quite well in the mud with his bologna skin tires. It was a good time
CAN YOU GUESS WHAT COLOR IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE??

yup... sport kings radial a/t in the front, and some trail thingies in the rear, both 31x10.5... they were all free... its good to have friends that work at tire centers... when someone drops off a set of used tires with decent rubber left... i get them... i've got a set of BFG TKO's for when i retire these... which, by the pics, you can see is soon
Lets see if anyone can guess what color paint is under that mud

Looks like you had a lot of fun :-D You ever hit that plow mount when you're offroad? And I thought the shackles were bad for decreasing the approach angle
You're like me in that it's hard to get the Jeep dirty with tires that are stuck under the flares. Looks like you were a little too close to BBJ a few times when he found the skinny pedal :-O [addsig]

yeah bounty... that plow mount is quite the obstacle offroad. as soon as i get another vehicle to throw it on, i'll be doing so... and yeah... i got a little close to BBJ a time or two, or three, or four.... etc... after the first time, i couldn't see in front of me... so it was all on guess... i ended up in his spare tire a couple times... but no damage.. it just made for more fun... i even stuck my head out a few times for the hell of it. the chunks are from him... the rest of the stuff was light mud from my tires creating a misty mud spray all over the place... that is what shot mud all over inside my jeep... that's gonna be a pain to take care of... but well worth it...
yeah, we have all sorts of mud around here too... i can get clay if i want, then there's oil soaked mud, then there's grass mud, then light mud, dark mud, mortar mud, pudding mud, thin mud, thick mud gret mud, black mud... then there are the different varieties of water, then soft dirt... we've got a lot of choices here in western ny[addsig]

Look's like the new joint's work just fine. lol. Do you run with your plow gear on all year. And how do you find plowing with a jeep. I plow too, but with 1/2 ton. Can't picture my jeep plowing. Great pics by the way!

yeah... i've never taken the plow kit off... and it works quite well... the large 89 ton rear bumper helps with keeping traction... i have many jobs I do in the winter... and she holds up to all of them. It has actually been quite handy a few times on the trail... it helps with the lifting of heavy objects and such... and the lights always make a good backup when i lose a headlight[addsig]
