so i got home from work around five thirty, changed my clothes, set up the air compressor to change my hindges over to stainless........
doors, were no problem the lower door hindge on the body a little tough but done, and then the WINDSHIELD. what a pain in the arss. how do they put them together like that, what were they thinking, where you can barely get your hand all the way up in that little crease, and then all of the caulking/ sealant on the nuts. you can't even get a wrench on the back side. any ways got the pass. side completed but it started to rain so had to pack it all in and cover the jeep with a tarp. sucks cause its supposed to rain on/off til monday. sorry had to vent.

Hey, did you replace your hood hinges too? If so I'd be interested in your old stock ones... even if they're rusty. Thanks.

sounds to me like the nuts are not supposed to be loose... the factory welds those nuts on the backside so they don't move... either that, or they put them in retainers.. might have to do some cutting[addsig]

Yeah snitty's right there are no nuts on the windsheild hinges. Just like mine the weld broke from the frame and the torx screw just kept spinning. I ended up having to drill them out and went to Home Depot to get toggle anchors with 1/4 in stainless bolts. Good luck. It is a pain in the A$$.[addsig]

88wrangred,

I would love to just have the hood hinges. I'll of course pay for shipping. I'm in Charleston, S.Carolina. Where are you?

Jay,
I know, my website sucks. But it's free. I could pay $10 a month to get rid of the pop ups, but I'm not really making money off my site, so I just suck it up. Are your black hinges the factory ones? I bought that black hood kit from Quadratec and the paint started chipping which let to rust, in less than 8 months. I hate them. Actually, I hate Steelhorse products, but that's a different story. If they are stock, what's the condition? Send a picture to my email? cfink@scfed.com Then I'll privately make you an offer. Thanks.
