Help me. just drove to Nebraska and my daughter presented me with her jeep that ran fine yesterday but today, it revs to about 2800 rpm and then it is like a governor kicks in. No power and it seems to be gasping for air. What's wrong????

Check the fuel filters, might have a clog.I had the same problem,I just changed the fuel filter and fuel wires and it gave me back my stolen power.Time the ignition. And also, you may have carbarator problems. Sully

He said it's "fuel injected", so don't check the carbuerator. sounds like an air leak to me. Check the bolts on the intake manifold. Check the air box, change filter, it's cheap. Check all the air lines around the Fuel injection and air tube going into the intake manifold. It's gotta be an air thing.

Wow, some Nebraska Jeepers, that is pretty cool.
I was born and raised (for ~10 years) in Omaha.
Still have family in Omaha, Lincoln, and Oakland.

Could be the start of a plugged catalytic converter, they grandually worsen and power gets less and less. Contact the dealer quick for free replacement if your under 8yr/80K miles.

I've partied in Lincoln, fun place. Spent 3 or 4 weeks at a Nat'l Guard base along the river, between Lincoln and Omaha.[addsig]

sorry a little off topic, but since there are nebraska jeepers reading this thread, do you know of anywhere that is actually legal to offroad around Lincoln, or at least a place where it is hard to get caught! [addsig]

I'm in Adams and she lives in Lincoln. Can't find any air leaks anywhere. She had gotten fuel 30 miles prior but it runs strong up to about 2800 rpm which leads me to believe it is not a filter. I was thinking about EGR but the converter thing makes sense.

Camp Ashland, that's it, couldn't remember the name. Man those Mule Deer on base were huge. I thought that river was going to come right into camp, all the ice chunks floating down and it was so high. Was that the Platte(sp)?[addsig]

Thanks Bounty Hunter. Today I pulled the O2 sensor and the jeep ran great to have some of the back pressure relieved. it was acting like a govenor. Calle d the dealer and sure enough, it was still under warranty. Have an appointment Monday to get a new converter at no charge to my daughter.

Thanks again guys and gals for the input!!!! :-D [addsig]
