I would remove the cat and add a muffler like a glasspack or flowmaster. tug[addsig]

I mean the catalytic converter. If I am not mistaken a cat back is a name brand. The catalytic Converter is a goverment deal. The thing only cuts down on polution and by urning un burned gases in the exaust. In doing this it restricts the flow of the exaust and choke the natural power from your motor. By removeing this and adding a flowing muffler such as the Flowmaster, Dynoflow, Glasspac ect... you are able to allow the exaust to do its thing in a less restrictive manner there for giving better preformance and gas milage. If you live in an area where you have emmisions testing you will need the cat on there to pass. You may get by with removeing the cat and replaceing it for the test of hollowing it out and putting it back on for looks. I hope that this helps. tug[addsig]

"Cat Back" isn't a name brand. It refers to the section of your exhaust system behind the catalytic converter. You'll see a lot of aftermarket companies selling 'cat back' systems, which simply include the muffler and pipe necesary to channel exhaust from the catalytic converter outside of the vehicle.

cat-back refers to a type of exhaust system -- it runs from the cat(alytic convertor) back. I wouldnt recommend messing with the cat-- A.) it's illegal to remove it (i know, who cares, but there is a fine if you're caught) and B.) the way the engines are set up on newer jeeps, they need some back pressure from the exhaust sytem or they just fall on their faces.[addsig]
