MY 87 WAGONEER NEEDS NEW LIFE. THE 252 HAS OVER 200,000 AND NEVER HAS ANY REBUILD. WANT TO PUT IN A WARMED UP 304 FROM MY 80 CJ-5. HAS ANYONE DONE THIS OR KNOW WHAT PROBLEMS THERE MAY BE WITH THAT. 304 HAS 4 SPEED BEHIND IT WHILE 252 IS AN AUTOMATIC.ANY AND ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED.

Never heard of the 252, do you mean the 258 I6 or is it some other type of engine?

When going from an AMC I6 to an AMC V8 generally requires changing the motor mounts, as the bellhousings will bolt up the same.
