spicer gears should run around $200+ set

So my question is, should I buy gears and have em installed into my stock axels (dana 35 in rear) or should I upgrade to the d44 first?

Problem is money. Don't have enough to get the 44 but want power increase now. Gears will fit in both right??? Forgive me if this is a dumb question.
