ok so I put one of the warn tire carrier bumpers on a couple weeks ago.. Now I don't have the tire carrier yet, but the part that the tire carrier mounts to is already getting rusty....I have sprayed wd-40 on it and scrubbed it with a rough sponge and that helped for a day or two, but then it rusts back up??? whats the deal, I thought it was supposed to be rustproof??? will this cause any problems??

Is it not painted or powder coated? If it is and it is still rusty then take it to a local warn dealer and ask them what is going on.

It is not stailess, it is most likely raw steel, and will rust like crazy, surface rust at least! Take it off, sand out any trouble spots, clean with some MEK (Methal Ethal Ketones) and spray it with some primer. spray on 2-3 coats of sandable, self-etching primer, (let dry inbetween coats of course) then sand it lightly with 220 grit or higher, then hit it with some coats of spray paint! Duplicolor makes a good product as does rustoleum! Then put 2 coats of clear on there just to protect the finish!

Why is it not painted? I would think it would be powder coated. I would call warn.
