Just yesterday, my CJ5 began giving me problems starting.

It is always on the first start of the day, or if it has been sitting at work all day. Initially, she will fire up as usual, then will stop, almost like she is not getting fuel. After that, all she will do is turn over for about 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes, she will fire up like nothing was ever wrong and gives me no problems on my trip home.

I was thinking either fuel pump going out or clogged fuel filter, whatcha think?

Thanks, Joel

Your on the right track. Start off with the fuel filter and see if that works.

Also check the hoses between the fuel pump, filter, carb and return to tank line...if you have a leak it will let air into the line and the gas will drain back down to the tank, leaving only the fuel in the carb's bowl for that initial short start.

Any luck finding your problem?

Seems like the problem corrected itself. I had already purchased a new fuel filter and fuel pump, then no problem anymore. At least I have the parts if needed. Thanks for asking

I'm sure you can return the pump if you did not use it. Replace the filter anyway.
