motorcraft 2100 or 2150

Some of you may remember the travails I was going thru with my re-gearing. I bought my 4.88 gears from Drivetrain Superstores. Excited as all hell, I failed miserably with the install do to lacking proper install kit parts. My truck being a daily driver, I had to get it up and running toot sweet and left stock gears in.

Then, one of my buddies cautioned me out of doing my own install. Small calculatons, ruining gears and transfercase etc.

So, I decided to have a "pro" install em. After installing the front gears the local pro informed me that the back is the wrong gear size. To make a long story short, I misdiagnosed my rear axel. Turns out I have an 8.25" Crysler in the rear and not the dana35. (hence the "stupid" part)

Actually one may say that was good news. The 8.25" is a pretty good axel. Problem is: they don't make 4.88's for the Crysler 8.25"!!!!!!! Plus, the front is already installed. So, my options are to swallow my losses and buy 2 new sets of 4.56's or upgrade my rear axel to a dana 44. (I won't downgrade to the 35)

Those Dana 44 XJ axels are hard to come by, and my fabrication abilities are too weak to buy a scout or ford axel.

What should I do??

I'm freakin' ****ed.

Man that sucks! I always hate having to re-order parts.

Anyways the decision is yours... but a DANA 44 would be cool

dang that does SUCK... but i would go with the 44 and you can sell the 8.25 and the 4.88 for it and recoup some of your lost money

You're right, the 8.25" is a good axle. Sell the D30 4.88 and get 4.56 for the front and rear.

I'd install the 8.25" in my YJ if it weren't for not being able to run 4.88 gears.
