My 1995 Jeep Cherokee has been running smoothly since I got in June of last year and has not faced a problem since. Until now, when I was driving back to my house from a quick errand when it just suddenly stopped. It wouldn't start back up and the check engine light was on since.
Luckily I managed to get the vehicle towed back to my place. However I am now in the process of trying to understand the nature of the problem as well as understand what has to be done from here. Though because I am not too skilled with this sort of subject I am wondering if other members on this board have faced similar problems or can help me out here. Any response is a great help and is much apprciated.

A little update here, I am sure as a result of the nature of the problem that it is likely related to the electric system or fuel system. Because the electric works just fine I am sure it may have something to do with the fuel system. Hopefully this is just something involving the fuel injection fuse or related sensors that can be easily replaced with out too much hassle.

WWW.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/dtc.html Has a write up on how to retrieve computer trouble codes for the 95 and a list of codes. I printed out a copy and keep it in the glovebox in my 95. Good place to start troubleshooting.

Motors and misc. for sale

Hi,

First step is to try and retrieve trouble codes, if any, from the ECU.

Also, could you describe what hapens when to try to start it?

Buffett Rocks

Was wondering if you'd gotten on the board yet... I'll be by tonight to look at it, after I get off of work.

Following up for my buddy here... Turned out that somehow, the computer wire harness was melted to the exhaust manifold, causing a massive short, and blowing the fuse to the computer. I'm surprised it did not fry it, personally. But after pushing it to the shop (of course, iwith my Jeep), it is back on the road, and running fine :)
