RE: Paragon Feb 19th

For some reason, my XJ seems to run wierd when its started while warm. For instance...Go out in the morning, start XJ, XJ runs fine.

Then, later in the day, I get gas after driving for an hour. Turn off XJ, get gas, turn XJ back on, XJ idles like crap, sometimes stalls, bad throttle response.

Then, i go home, let it sit for a few hours, and later that night i go to get ice cream. Start XJ, XJ runs and idles fine, no stalling.

Any ideas? Its been doing this for...3 months, ever since the rebuilt engine has been installed.

Hi,

Things which are activated based on engine temperature and should be checked for proper operation:

- EGR valve and solenoid (check that they are not sticking)
- Oxygen sensors
- Catalytic Converter
- Coolant temperature sensor

If you have an automatic transmission, there are probably transmission components to add to this list. Sorry, but I can't help you there.

-Nick

A friend of mine had the same symptoms with his Civic, turned out to be water in his gas... That's my only suggestion, it's all Greek to me after that, Nick knows all the cool details...
