changing door lock cylinder

Greetings:

My 1989 Cherokee Laredo (6Cyl) has some door locking problems. The tumbler on the driver's side no longer works, and it does seem to be something wrong in the lock cylinder and not the connections in the door.

I would like to remove it, possibly switch it with the passenger side. However I am not sure how to do so. I have taken everything off the inside of the door (panel, arm rest, window crank), but under the plastic dust cover I can not figure out how to remove the lock cylinder. Its hard to reach and short of cutting a hole in the door, I am lost. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sean

Re: changing door lock cylinder

pull the platic up and reach up the hole, there is a rod going up to the lock cylinder from the door latch, undoing it from the latch was easier for me, then remove the u-clip from around the lock, it should pop out after that.
just remember how everything went togather
