Free XJ Front Bumper Mod: Extra 3-4" clearance

Hey all-

(poor quality, but this is the best i have of a "before" pic... and this pic is before i banged it all up too lol)

well all that cheesy plastic moulding/trim stuff around my front bumper had certainly seen better days. Between the previous owners cutting a 5" wide slot in it (i guess for a tow hook but they never installed one) and me thrashing it all over rocks, roots, stumps, etc... it was in really bad shape.

Removing it along the bottom of the bumper is a snap - i just used a utility knife and cut it off of there. Otherwise, you'd have to wrestle around getting to all the 8mm bolts holding it on... and those bolts are hidden behind the bumper itself.

Along the sides, I used a straight-edge and a sharpie to draw a straight line along the fender flare. Using the cut-off wheel on my dremel, i just cut along my line.
