Question Before I put it on...

I read somewhere that when you put on a cone intake (I'm getting ready to get the Rusty's pack) you have to alter your oxygen/fuel ratio. Is this something that is now taken care of by the computer, or is it something that I will actually need to adjust? Not knowing how one would do that makes it a little problematic. I don't want to screw things up TOO awfully badly if I don't need to.

Also real quick whilst I have your attention...

Is there much of a difference and will it fit if you get the upgrade to the 9" filter?

SOunds reasonable but I never heard that. It certainly won't hurt anything if you don't make any adjustments. GO ahead and install it... you can tweak the fuel mixture later if you figure that out.

Re: Before I put it on...

the larger filter doesn't make any difference. All the extra air is maxed oout with the smaller cone. Can't cram more air in than that unless you change you intake.

Re: Before I put it on...

All adjustments are made with the computer. Figure this... If you have a dirty air filter and it is not allowing in much air.. then you replace the filter with a new one, you will be getting in more air. You don't have to make any adjustments in that case. That is one of the beauties of electronic control, and is also not a huge issue on non-electric controlled motors. If you do happen to have an issue at first, the computer will learn the adjustment. If you really have any worries, disconnect the battery for a half hour and it will relearn everything with the new air intake.

Re: Before I put it on...

He's right. the 02 sensor senses unburned fuel in the exhaust and instructs the computer to lean out the mixture.

Re: Before I put it on...

Well that makes me feel a little better. I kind of thought so when I couldn't find how to do that in the chiltons. Looks like it'll be coming pretty quick then.

Yep, just put on the filter and leave everything else alone.

And like Dropseys mentioned, the bigger filter won't take in any more air than the smaller one.

Re: Before I put it on...

Made my own airtube setup today, almost the same as what Rusty sells.

It is amazing what some companies can sell when things are so easy to make

Looks great Bounty, I'm sure it works quite well

Re: Before I put it on...

So I was looking at the rusty's, which I'm probably about to order here, and was comparing it to the K&N. Can't argue with the price...

What I was noticing, was that the K&N looked different depending on what web site you looked at. Totally different hoses and shield. What's the deal with that? How am I supposed to figure things out when they always look different? Rusty's looks better and better.
