Do you know where the sound is coming from? I'd sit in a parking lot, and get a buddy to turn the wheel back and forth, and see if the sound comes from one of the wheels, or the powersteering pump.

Have you checked the fluid level in your power steering pump?

I have a similar problem with my 94 Cherokee Sport. The steering box makes a clunk noise when the wheel is turned. Is there anything I can do besides installing a new gear box?[addsig]
