my xj keeps cutting off when i start to stop like it is stalling or somthing but it is an automatic??

We're gonna need a little more info.

What year is your Jeep, and is it Fuel Injected or does it have a carb. One of the easiest places to start is by changing the fuel filter (should probably do the spark plugs, and air filter too).

Does it die when you press on the gas, or just when you first hit the brakes (like at a stop sign)?
