Diesel Cherokee Sport

I have a 97 Cherokee Sport 2.5 diesel, had it since new and still love it.
It has developed a problem, it has a huge flat spot when accelerating as if the turbo isn't working. And it is hard to start up. It starts and then cuts out as if no fuel a few times, runs rough and then is OK until I hit this flat spot.
The turbo seems to be working, because the 3" rubber hose that runs front to rear by the engine pressurizes.
Help I want to overtake slow movers again.

Re: Diesel Cherokee Sport

I had a similar problem with mine and i traced it back to the fuel filter primer, there is a plastic cap in front of the lift pump and it had a crack in it so it would let air into the fuel system stopping it starting and then it would cut out.

Re: Diesel Cherokee Sport

Thanks Chris, not been around for a while, and hadn't seen your reply. Had to take it to the Jeep garage, they soon sorted it, and I didn't have to remortgage. It;s due in next week for rear axle bearings, I've got quite a rumble, and the flat spot has returned, so I'll check out the plastic cap.
