96 grand cherokee hard shift problem
I have a 96 grand cherokee, 4.0L, Quadra Trac Full Time 4WD, Auto Tranny.
I just purchased it last week as a private sale. The tranny has a hard time shifting from 2nd to 3rd when it's cold. After it warms up a bit it will shift fine. I checked for codes and found one in the pending codes section. It was P0701, which says Transmission Control System Range/Performance. Does anyone know what this code means? I am thinking it has something to do with the hard shifting, but can't find any info on it. Thanks Vic

I don't think it will fix the code, but I'd go ahead and change the transmission fluid.
