88 Cherokee

Was wondering if anyone could help me. I have this problem where if I go to get on the gas it doesnt kickdown the transmission and take off. So I was curious as to if anyone had any ideas as they would greatly help. Thanks

Re: 88 Cherokee

I don't know much about the 88 model with an auto, but Jeep had a lot of vacuum controlled items back in the day. Look to see if there is a vacuum hose coming out of the side of the transmission. If so, trace it back up to the engine checking for leaks.
The kickdown is either vacuum controlled or operated by a cable.

Probably need to adjust the TV cable at the throttle body. Everything else on that tranny is 'puter controlled with input from many sensors. Could also be the TPS out of adjustment.

Re: 88 Cherokee

You're right, I was thinking they didn't get injected until 89. It was actually 87.
