1992 Transmisson and transfercase
Hello,
I have a good 5 speed transmission and transfercase and was wondering what both of these items would be worth if I were to sell them. At this point they are still in the Jeep I use as spare parts (at least the parts that are interchangeable).
Peace, Jewel

Re: 1992 Transmisson and transfercase
Where are you located?
Are they behind a 2.5L or 4.0L engine?
transfer case worth $50-$200, tranny about $300-$500, with some variables not accounted for.

Re: 1992 Transmisson and transfercase
Hello Bounty_Hunter,
Thank you for responding. I checked with my local auto yard and they told me 300.00/350.00 for the transfercase depending on make? And $ 500.00 for the transmission. I did have someone come out and look at them. They are both in the 1992 Jeep (manual) I use as my parts rig. I have the 1988 Jeep but automatic.
The five speed transmissiom appears to be in good shape as well as the transfer case.
I live in Washington State not far from British Columbia Canada along/above the Columbia River. The parts are in a 4.0L engine like my Jeep.
Peace, Jewel

Re: 1992 Transmisson and transfercase
That's prolly what a junkyard would charge, but what I told you is realistically about what jeepers around here would pay other jeepers.
I used to live on Ft. Lewis, traveled up to your neck of the woods as much as I could.

Re: 1992 Transmisson and transfercase
Hello, Bounty_Hunter,
Thank you for your response, and yes, that price was from a junk yard. In fact it was the local junk yard in Colville WA.
I am not sure when you say, around here. Are you on the East Coast ?
I am quite grateful for all of the information that has been supplied to me from this site. I am working out a coolant problem in my 1988 Jeep and looks like I finally found the answer in my relay.
So, thanks a lot for being there.
Peace, Jewel

I think what Bounty meant was what you'd pay for a private party sale instead of retail (the junk yard is going to charge more than the guy down the street)
I'd try listing them on craigslist and ebay for what you think is a fair price. Doesn't cost anything to post on craigslist.
