Re: 93 cherokee

Hi, I'm new to the site and need a question answered. my 93 grand cherokees oil gauge went from normal to zero this morning for the first time so I panicked and put oil in it. This of course did nothing, so I went on to work.At lunchtime started car and it was back normal. What is the problem?

Re: 93 cherokee

Making sure you have oil in the engine is Good. Having too much oil in the crankcase is NOT good. Check your Oil level by looking at the Dipstick level to measure how much you have in it. if its over the Max level, drain some of it till it's back on the Crosshatched area of the dipstick. if the Oil pressure light is on ,or the oil pressure gauge is reading Zero AND there is no knocking heard on the engine , there is a possibility that the oil pressure sending unit is faulty. you can do a quick test by grounding the sending unit wire to the block and see if your gauge hits the Maximum level. (key on, Engine Off).
