I've got a friend who's buying a Rubicon this week and was wondering if he's better off to buy an aftermarket soft top or the stock jeep soft top. He's buying a 2004 which has a new soft top which has window frames for the soft top and they are still detachable. I think he's better off to get an aftermarket one but what do you think?

97 on the soft top had detachable soft top door frames, is there a new door frame?

He should check in to getting the dual top option with the full doors. That way he has a choice as soon as he gets home. He can lock the jeep up or take the doors off and top down on nice days.

Almost forgot. My Rubicon came with hard doors and a set of frames for half doors to use with my top. all I have to do is get a set of used half doors and paint them to match my jeep and I will be all set.

the stock top is made by bestop anyways. The only better soft top is the sailtop, and i'm not sure if they make that anymore.

Off-Road Adventures March Issue
The factory top is made by bestop and is essentially a sailcloth version of the Supertop, only better. It's the best soft top available for a TJ. Get the factory top and the full hard doors. Those doors are definately worth it.

Thanks, I'm glad it's made by Bestop. I love my Bestop compared to the stock top my 93 YJ came with. I'll tell him to go with the stock soft top.

Ok then the "new Sunrider version" compared to the stock 93 YJ soft top is much better.
