I want to make my jeep a trunk so i can actually feel good about leaving stuff in it while im at school. What all will I need to do this and could someone give me step by step instructions on how they did it? It looks to be pretty simple but what kind of materials did you use to create it and how stong is it? oh and its a YJ.

TJ rear bumper
In my old 91yj I had the instatrunk which was nice but it came with the jeep. I wanted some kind of protection for my 95YJ and just made a top cover out of high quality plywood and covered it with outdoor carpet and screwed it down. Its not fool proof but will deter most people just walking by. Cost about $8.00. Good luck.

I made mine out of aluminum. Welded bracing on the top piece and side pieces, then bolted them together. Mine is a little higher than most cause I had to clear my sub. I made another one for my brothers 93 YJ... Just one piece of alumium braced up of course, laying across the fender wells like beachjeeps'. We hurculined it along with the tub. Looks great but don't have a pic. So here is mine (91 YJ)
