Supposedly the np 231 has a lower crawl ration then the np207. 2.7to2.6

I have an 86 comanche with a 207 30x9.50 tires and stock 3.55 gears. When i put it in 4 low it crushes my yj. I can't go over 15mph or i tack my motor out even in 5th gear.

My yj is a 91 2.5 with stock 4.10 gears a 231 transfer case and 33in tires.

When i put it in 4low 1st and 2nd gear are cool :"not as low as my comanche" then when i shift into 3rd it's almost like i'm not in 4low" i can cruz 30 mph no prob.

IS that how all the wranglers are or is something messed up in mine

Let me know

Thanks[addsig]

Your YJ rolls so fast because you are geared too high for those tall tires. 4.88 axle gears will bring your crawl speed back close to stock.

The MJ probably crawls slower if it has smaller tires. You can check the 207 gear ratio on the tag on the back of the TC, same as the YJ.[addsig]
