I have bought a 76 CJ7 and I have to pick it up about 6hrs away. I have a trailer but no way to get the jeep on it. The guy says it will run and drive but it needs a battery, cables, and gas tank. Now I have never done this but is it possible to just put a five gallon gas can in the jeep some where and run a fuel line to the fuel pump just to drive it up on the trailer.

Jeep transporting help needed
Get a come-a-long and whinch it up on the trailer.
That would be the easiest way to do it.

RE: Jeep transporting help needed
My friend has a 4 ton come-a-long. I have never used one. So they work pretty good?

Ya. Just put the Jeep in neutral and a 4 ton'er will definatly be able to get it up on the trailer.
Just find some solid spots on the front of the trailer AND on the Jeep and use the come-a-long and some chain if it needs to go longer.

Re: I need to change my name to purple TJ girl
The come-a-long will be the fastest and safest way to get it on there.
To answer your makeshift gas tank question though: Yes, you could do that too.

Set a fuel tank on the hood and run a line right to the carb.

I'm all about the tank in the hood idea. I have a friend with a small half gallon container of gas under his hood with a small volume pump used for priming his carb after off camber stalls

If you set it on the hood, wouldn't the hood need to be closed? I know the gravity feed works with some fiddling, but simple would be yanking the fuel line off the back of the pump, sliding another long hose on there and dropping the other end in a tank of gas. Then crank the Jeep up and drive it on the trailer( or out of the junkyard, as I've used it).
