Ive lost the rust battle.

Im having to scrap my current tub and chassis this summer for another. I will then need to have the new tub, fenders, hood, doors etc. painted. I plan on taking it to a body shop, probably in pieces on a flat bed, because the chassis will be at home getting a coat of POR 15 from me.

I also dont need them to paint the interior, as I will be painting on
hercurliner.

What can I expect to pay? The new tub and stuff will be used, but probably need prepping and stuff.

Would is be cheaper if I finished everthing first and drove the jeep over there?
(i feel it would be easier and cheaper if i brought it over in pieces..)

CJ-5 for Sale

What kind of paint job will you be wanting to get? You can get anything from one of those cheap Maaco $500 jobs...to somewhere around a couple to a few thousand....to a lot more!

If you want just an average, nothing fancy paint job, I'd be looking to spend around $2000 or so....give or take depending on what prices are in your area and how you want it to come out.

I'd call around, but most of the time it will be cheaper with it in pieces. It will also come out a lot nicer as well.

4 Banger question...Junkpile, Where you at?

The paint job will be more thorough if it is done apart (firewall, inner fenders, dash, etc) Do you have a particluar tub in mind. Several friends of mine have gotten tubs that didn't need any paint, just buffing and cleaning. Acquire one from the south and you will be less likely to have the rust already present.
Too bad they don't make fiberglass and aluminum bodies for YJ's yet.

Stay away from maacrap. Check with your local hot rod guys and local mechanic for good paint guys who won't rape you. My paint guy retired from the GM dealership about 10 years ago and paints in a little metal shop in his back yard. Paint looks as good as any factory job and he's gonna do my 2nd jeep for $400 (outside only, with me removing all the flares etc so he won't have to do a lot of masking). I rolled the tan '7 in my sigline when I was a teenager and he painted it inside and out, pulled the dents (under both doors and left rear corner panel was caved in) for $800 (again, I removed everything I didn't want painted). That paint job looked fine 10 years later except for dents/dings I put in it. I took it to maacrap instead of driving 4 hours to the above paint guy and I got a really crappy $500 paint job. I wouldn't let maaco paint my kid's bike if they did it free.....

RE: Gear Oil for

over the weekend I talked to a few shops and they said arond
$800 - 1000 with it in pieces, and not painting the interior or roll cage (I have pads any way)

Thats urethane paint, I specifically asked if it would be as resistend to wear and tear as factory paint jobs, and they said it would be even tougher. The paint was around $400, and labor was the rest. Said he'd even warrant it for a while if I had everything sandblasted first - So he knew exactly what he was working with.

Good price for South NH / north MA?

RE: Web Template / Photoshop Help

I was looking into paint options for my project CJ7, I talked to the local LineX guy he said that he would do the entire jeep inside and out for $1200 - $1500 depending on color. This stuff is tough and you dont have to worry about scratching it on the trail. just a suggestion.
