AMC V-8 Dist Drive Gear

I'm doing the HEI swap for my CJ but I can't seem to find an AMC V-8 to pull a gear from and no auto parts store has one. Is there any way to modify the existing gear to fit on the HEI dist? I would just look myself but the stock dist is still on the engine and I need the thing to run while I'm finding all of these parts. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Hold up...fill me in on this mod. Are you running a V-8 or 6 cyl? What HEI are you using? I thought there was too much difference in the distrubitor shaft to make a GM HEI work on an AMC motor (at least the v-8s). I looked at doing it years ago but was going to require some machining and tig welding of the shaft to get the dimensions right.
Is there a reason why you can't reuse the gear you have?

Its not recomended to reuse your origanal gear. There is a good chance it will eat your cam. I just put a hei in last week on my I6. When rite in. Just do a google on HEI JEEP. lots to read.

Yeah, I found a good writeup here: www.bustedjeep.com

There were some others, but that's the only one I remember off of the top of my head.0

Hi-Ya, SenorCole86,

Assuming you are doing the HEI mod to a 4.2, I-6, the distributor drive gear you want will be found here:
