do you have any obvious oil leaks? check around your drain plug, oil filter, sending unit, etc...

Had it been full? How long had it been since you checked it?

Completely empty?.....or just low enough that it isn't registering on the dipstick? Like 2+ quarts low.

Does it smoke or leak? Not really many places for it to go except to the ground or out the tailpipe.

Junky jumped in on that one. you can have nothing on the dipstick and still have plenty of oil in the engine. If you ran out completely you'd be buying a new motor. You're likely burning oil and, as 'pile said, its going out the tailpipe

RE: Throttle body help

Might want to check your oil pressure sending unit, also. When that little diaphragm goes, your needle will do as described and it'll spew ungodly amounts of oil.......you can actually see the trail behind you.

Had a hunch when you mentioned that. Mudwoman's went out on her YJ a short while back (after similar guage readings).......left a huge puddle in the WalMart parking lot........took 4 quarts to get 'er home (10 miles + or -). Easy, relatively cheap fix!!! Glad all is well again, Tink.
