Hey. It's time for me to change my diff fluid since my rearend rebuild. I have a Detroit locker back there now. Just wondering if I should be using a different kind of diff fluid and if the different kinds will change the way the locker engauges/disengauges?

use the same type of diff fluid as normal...but also put in an additive for the locker. Just go to an auto parts store and they have it there right next to the diff fluid.

RE: engine dies? is it overheating?

Never heard that before. I have been running mine on 80W90 for years without problems. The only time I know that you need to additive is if you are running a limited slip or a Detroit Gearless. The standard Detroits work fine with 80W90.
