Re: Tranny cooler

Have you checked the tranny fluid level? Does it smell burnt?

Would the tranny flat-out not go into gear or was the tranny slipping? Did you run a lot of hills while wheelin?

Anybody with an auto should consider a temp guage for the tranny output to the cooler.

Re: Tranny cooler

Checked the fluid today and it did look a little burnt and creamy . I was on some hills but mostly slow driving and some mud it started at the end of the trip. I took the tranny cooler off today to see if it was stoped up and it was not what next . Bounty tell me about the gauge that you are talking about. thanks

You put a "t" in your line going from the tranny to the cooler, and put a temperature guage there.

I'd definatly change the fluid before you drive it any more though.

It could be that your cooler is just not able to cool it enough. What size is it? You may also want to put a seperate electric fan on the tranny cooler itself.

Re: Tranny cooler

I'm going to want to run a cooler on mine when I do the 700r4 conversion in my TJ. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to put it? I'm thinking the only good place is right in front of the radiator. I've done this on my GM truck and the Monte Carlo I have and it's worked well. I just don't want to overheat the engine in the Jeep. It looks like theirs a lot less space for the tranny cooler there.
