axle swap

i have a chance to buy two Dana 44's, front disc rear drum, from an 88 wagoneer for $450...

my stock 30, 44, are 52.5" from drum to drum (outside to outside)

the dana 44's measure 62.5"... i know you guys will know better than anyone, what all would this swap entail? i know i'll need extended brake lines, new spring perches, a tie rod, a longer drag link, but how do i know it'll be the right size?

what else would i need?

Re: axle swap

I don't think the front D44 will work, the diff will be on the driver's side and your CJ has a pass. side diff.

Re: axle swap

Older 70's waggy's have passenger side diff's. You'll need one of those. Plan on the tire sticking out 5+ inches, might be a problem. Are you wanting to go real wide? If not just keep your d44/30 and beef up the 30 w/alloy shafts and put disc on the rear and you'd be set.
