2.5L AX5 to AX15 conversion

Is there anyway to convert an AX5 to an AX15 without changing the 2.5L engine. I am currently trying to convert the 2.5L to a 4.0L, and with the research that I have done, everyone says that I need to replace the AX5 to a AX15 to handle the torque. Since my AX5 tranny's synchro rings are going I thought i mine as well replace the whole thing with an upgrade. If you know what is necessary to make this conversion it would be much appreciated. In addition the reason why I am doing the tranny then the engine is because that is a lot of loot to drop at once.

Thanks,

If you're gonna keep the 2.5L, get your conversion parts from a 2.5 Dakota as they have the AX15.
