Jeep Ignition question

My 77 CJ5 with a 304 has an A1 Cardone Distributer.
This is a link to a picture of it. (it is several products from the top)
http://www2.partstrain.com/v5/produc...tt=DISTRIBUTER

Does any one know anything about this distributer? Is it any good? Reliable? It runs ok, but I'm always looking for something that will make the Jeep better, and this looks like it may be a weak link. I have been unable to find out any information about this distributer. Any advice appreciated.
thanx
dave

Re: Jeep Ignition question

You can always swap over to an HEI distributor. Good article here:

Re: Jeep Ignition question

Yep, HEI rules.

I talked the guy into going with a D.U.I.(Davis Unified Ignition) for the last 258 we did, and that was a really nice setup. The DUI comes with a nice cap, a really nicely machined and finished housing/body, a performance module, 50,000V coil, pre-curved for your setup... it's just a sweet distributor, and it's very easy to install and setup.

Re: Jeep Ignition question

I'm considering an HEI, but if this one is pretty good, I would save the money and keep it. Maybe just an MSD control Unit or something would help. Note, it will get wet quite a bit. Here is a link to some pics of mine that may help I.D. it. thanx

Re: Jeep Ignition question

i havent run across one of those in abour 10 years. i would run it till it pukes then get an hei and save yourself any hassels later on down the road. you can get parts for an hei at any parts store across the nation . its cheaper and its cheap insurance if it does break.
