Re: YJ Ideas
Mudwoman was bouncing around the idea for hers. Personally, it's the ONLY.........I repeat...ONLY thing I don't like about the YJ. And given all the things I like about it, I could let it slide. If I had completed every other mod I wanted, I might consider it..........but the $$$$$ could be spent better.
What was Jeep thinking???????

Re: YJ Ideas
I wouldn't waste the time or money, it's still a jeep and that time and money could go into something that will actually make the YJ perform better. My YJ is swee the way it is.
Oh and, It's hip to be square.

Re: YJ Ideas
Whay would anyone want to ruin a perfectly good YJ?
While I'll admit there is nothing finer looking than a CJ's front clip, Jeep hasn't made anything as cool since. TJ's look too "neat", the JK's lights are kind of flat on top and bottom with rounded sides, and the square YJ's - well we YJ lovers have come to arodre them but it's no secret that they seem *******ized to many Jeep enthusiasts.
My point is all the SWB Jeeps have their own traits, and all of them are unique in their own way - and have their own character. A YJ's square headlights don't make it look bad, they just make them look different. I think the YJ is the best of the Jeeps and anyone who can't live with the front end ought to sell it and get the Jeep they really want.I mean, if you want a CJ then by all means go get yourself one - cool big speedo and all. If you love your YJ then accept the square peepers on it and mod something else.

Re: YJ Ideas
They do make the kits. I've never seen one in person but I would bet it just wouldn't look right.

Re: YJ Ideas
I'd do it if I had the money, even thought about doing it on my ZJ, although it would look very weird, but it would stand out.

Re: YJ Ideas
YJ's are a dieing breed, don't see too many on the trails around here anymore. Too many TJ's, keep the YJ authentic, it was built a jeep.

Re: YJ Ideas
I like round lights better, but don't dislike square ones enough to actually do anything about it.
Jeep has poured tons of money into making the round headlight jeep grill the universal symbol of Jeep. Seems funny that they would have come out with square lights.

Re: YJ Ideas
I agree with leaving them square. That's the way a YJ is supposed to be. As far as what looks better, I know guys that have put YJ front clips on CJs... different people like different stuff.
Round is cooler? Yeah, before 1987. Chrysler slapping round lights on the creampuff TJ just to cash in on the old image(that they are in no way responsible for)... that was kind of queer, and it sort of cheapened the whole deal in my eyes. Not quite as bad as the V6 powered 2wd stuff you see from Jeep nowadays, but still pretty bad.

Re: YJ Ideas
Personally, I'll keep the square headlights just to irritate the "round guys". ;-)

I agree; when I decided to buy the Jeep, I specifically wanted a MPI YJ because of the suspension!

Re: YJ Ideas
I have an enitre CJ front that I would like to put onto my YJ simply because, I have it, and the YJ front is a little beat. They are pretty much a direct swap, (hood, fenders, and grille) you will need to do a little custom work to get the radiator alligned properly, but an elecrtic fan would make this a lot easier.
