Question Generric Questions?

I bought this 2002 or 2003 Wrangler that's been total'd out & now is a parts only Vehicle.
I'm going to remove the couple of things that I need and than let somebody else get the parts that they need etc.......
How do I tell if its got Dana 35 or 44 rears?
What ratio rears is most common for a 4 cyl 5 speed?
From what I'm reading the trans should be an AX5 - correct?
Jim

1.) If it's a Rubicon then it has D44s, it doesn't sound like it is. You can also tell by looking at the diff cover. Most likely you have a D35 in the back and D30 in the front
2.) 4.11 gear ratio
3.) correct

Re: Generric Questions?

If it's a 4 cylinder 5 speed you have an AX-5 with 4.11 gears. D30 front, 35 rear.

To be certain you can get the vin off the car, then request the build sheet from chrysler with this link. It's free, and doesn't take long.

Re: Generric Questions?

Let us know what you find out, I was under the impression the gearing would be 3.73. Maybe thats just in the 4.0

Re: Generric Questions?

2.5L and 5spd is generally 4.10 gearing and always a D35 rear axle.

Jeep switched from the AX5 to the NV1550 or similar somewhere in the TJ years, anybody know what year?

Where you located at, might need some parts
