how restore my steering wheel?
Hello. I have a 75 cj5 with the original steering wheel. It's the big black one that looks like it should be in an 18 wheeler. Anyway, it has cracks in the plastic in several places that are quite deep and look bad. I would like to fill them in. I checked and restoration kits are over $100.00.
Does anyone know a cheap way to fix it? I would like to fill the cracks with something like epoxy and then paint it. Any advice appreciated. thank

I was going to tell you to look at POR 15, but it's $91
STEERING WHEEL REPAIR KIT-POR-15 Inc. however looking at the kit, they are selling you cleaner, epoxy, and some polisher, so you should be fine just using epoxy on the steering wheel. another option would be to pickup a nicer one off of ebay eBay Motors: 76-86 CJ 5 7 8 Renegade Steering Wheel (item 170217402213 end time May-12-08 20:19:32 PDT)

For $100.00 you could replace it!

If the epoxy and paint don't do the trick, i will have to get the new one. but I got better uses for 100.00 if I can fix it for 10.00!!!
