Question Jeep stalls on highway

I have a '95 YJ 4-cylinder. Lately it has taken to stalling/cutting out when accelerated (like when driving to brother Mud's in LA). It ran ok when I kept the speed between 60 - 65, but when I sped up & tried to run 65 -70 it stalled out (sort of acted like it was flooded). When I pulled over to the side of the road (could smell gas, like the engine was flooded) and waited a couple of minutes it would start back up. It acted ok as long as I kept speed below 65, but if I got over 65 for any length of time it would stall out again. Mud & I ran the codes in LA (showed possible O2 sensor & MAP sensor prob) & I replaced the MAP sensor (still had same prob on trip back to OH). It acts like it's getting too much fuel (flooding). Would a bad O2 sensor cause this? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Jeep stalls on highway

In short, Yes. A faulty O2 sensor can cause your engine to run rich because it is not reading the proper temp on your exhaust gases. Over time this will also damage your catalytic converter. Other signs will be poor fuel mileage (ummm but it is a jeep :) ) and fouling or wet buildup around the tailpipe.

Re: Jeep stalls on highway

Changed the O2 sensor. Seems to be running better but haven't had a chance to try it on the highway yet. Thanks for the help.
