Heater hot hot help!
Hey all,
I have a '97 Wrangler with no a/c. I want to put in a/c but it's a 4cyl and am concerned about losing any power. Whadda ya think? Also, there is a large vent by my gas pedal that blows hot hot air on my feet 24/7. On a long drive, my foot is burnin' and my ankle swells up! ugh... Can I cap this baby off, or detour it into the back seat with a hose or something? Is this normal? I am new to my Jeep, and loving it! Just a few things here and there that I want to have done.
Thanks!

Re: Heater hot hot help!
i'm not exactly sure but this is where the blower normally blows air on your feet(obviously) as long as the temp knob is on hot, hot air will blow out because of the forced air from you moving. This can be blocked off if you wish however isn't recommended. I dono how you would detour it into the back tho.. is possible

Diane,
Any chance you can post a photo of this tube / vent?
I'm not sure this is stock - it doesn't sound right.

I don't know about the hot air thing, but you already have air conditioning. It's a Wrangler!

Love the dancin' banana! I know, I know, I don't need a/c, but have you ever driven around with hot air on your foot in 109 degrees with no a/c?
ARG! ha ha ha..

Re: Heater hot hot help!
Hey T,.
I finally discovered that it is an actual vent! There is a funky lever that opens & closes it.. Even closed, it is still flippin' burning my right foot!
Anyway, I will keep on trying to find a way to lessen the heat. Now that you said it doesn't sound "normal", who the heck installed this thing??

Re: Heater hot hot help!
Diane,
I have an '03 4Banger that came with factory air (Bought it while living in Florida). I used it rarely.......maybe 4-5 times in 3 years. You'll definitely notice a drop in power when you kick it on (less-so on the interstate, but DEFINITELY noticable). My air no longer works, and I was thinking of converting it to an "on-board air" system (airing up tires) until I moved to God-forsaken Southern Louisiana!!!!! Top off, doors off, this heat down here will still kill ya'!!!!! Don't know what I'd do if there was some vent shootin' hot air on my feet!!!! (Bondo comes to mind! ) Good luck with your problem.....wish I could help more. Just thought I could advise you on the "power-sappage" of AC on a 4banger.
