Water in parking lights/running lights

I have an issue with water getting into the plastic housing of my side running light and front parking light. This causes the sockets to corrode. I am on my second replacement of the little pigtail sockets. I have yet to come up with any creative ideas for keeping water out. I was curious if anyone else has tried anything that worked or knows where to pick up an OEM socket that would seal correctly?

Re: Water in parking lights/running lights

I had the same problem with my 99. I finally cleaned all the water/moisture out, then used a good water proof silicone and sealed around the edges of the lens and housing. So far, I've not had a problem since. Make sure you have all the dirt and gunk cleaned out of the rubber washer where the socket goes into the housing. Mine was full of crap, which may have been part of the problem.

You could also take some dielectric grease and put it on thick around the base of the bulb and the contacts. This will help keep water out of the socket.
